Crystal’s Career Closet
Doing a Career Closet has been on my heart for a few years now. Beginning of last year I did a little research on starting it. I want to assist in styling and providing outfits to those who may not be able to afford them and are searching for a career, changing careers or looking to promote themselves in their career or starting their own businesses or nonprofits. I am grateful to partner with the Sisters in Christ Ministry at 120 Jefferson Street Louisa VA and launch Crystal’s Career Closet.
If you would like to donate items please be sure to follow these instructions and guidelines.
- Items need to be GENTLY worn. Heavy on the gently. Nothing can be damaged, no pills (fuzz balls from improper laundry care), no weary seams, and threads.
- Please make sure it is in season. These women and men that we will serve will be looking for items in the current season we are in. Items that can be worn all year around are ideal too. Example ( black, navy, and gray suits are great staple pieces for all year around)
- Be sure the item is either a classic style or on trend. Classics are solid color collared shirts (great interviewing colors white, pastel pink, teal, light blue), most 3 button, single or double buttoned or double breasted suits will always be staples. Most solid color dress pants or a tartan plaid, houndstooth patterns are staples as well. Cardigans and shift dresses are classic silhouettes for women too.
- Shoes the same guidelines apply. On trend or classic styles. No scrapes, worn out soles, or scuffs. Black, tan/nude shoes will be high in demand because they are professional and universal styles.
